The former defender is appointed the caretaker head coach of the club following Samuel Kwesi Fabin’s resignation from the role last Thursday and is expected to lead the team to Obuasi for the second leg of the “Golden Clash” against Ashantigold this Sunday, FootballmadeinGhana.com can confirm.
The game – originally scheduled for Sunday September 16 – was postponed following the resignation of Kotoko’s head coach Samuel Kwesi Fabin but Raphael Akakpo Patron is now confirmed interim head coach and will make his debut against the Miners in the crunch friendly encounter .
Akakpo Patron joined the club on a two-year deal as assistant coach to Steven Polack in December 2017 and continued to assist Fabin who succeeded Polack in February this year.
Fabin resigned from his position to the shock of the Kotoko family.
The former Ghana U17 Men’s team coach met with Executive chairman of the club Dr.Kwame Kyei on Sunday at Sports Hotel in Kumasi where the club accepted the coach’s resignation but on condition that he settles the necessary compensation package of the remainder of his contract to the club.
Fabin is said to have received a bumper deal to coach an unnamed South African club.
