Salifu Fallahu Rahman was very apologetic on Monday speaking to Space FM in Sunyani as he cops a ten-year ban from the Referees Association of Ghana.
Salifu Rahman could have possibly become the next Colina of Ghana football for his unshakable confidence and command in the Black shirt but his conduct in the Anas video has damaged a brilliant path to refereeing prominence.
The Sunyani-based referee was Samuel Sukah’s second assistant referee in the controversial Hearts of Oak 1 Asante Kotoko 0 premier league game last year at the Accra sports stadium.
Sukah awarded a controversial penalty to the Phobians which was laterĀ declared legitimate by the Match review panel of the GFA but Tiger Eye PI proved Rahman, center referee Samuel Sukah and Eric Nantieri first assistant were corrupted by undercover journalists who masqueraded as Hearts of Oak supporters before and after the game.
Rahman was part of three promising Ghanaian referees invited by UEFA to attend a two-week course in Nyon in April 2016 and was touted as a potential FIFA referee.
“I’m very sorry for the disgrace I have brought to Brong Ahafo and football lovers with respect to Anas Number 12.” an apologetic Rahman said to Space FM in Sunyani.
However the young referee sought to clarify things even if majority of people won’t be interested.
“But let me put it on record that Hearts Operations Manager Acquah gave me only Ghc300 as T&T and not the Ghc 2000 as it is put out there” Salifu emphasized.
“I would be back stronger after this ban though I have failed to reach my goal of getting a FIFA badge” he added.
