Niger have lodged a protest following their semi final defeat to Nigeria at the ongoing WAFU Zone B U17 Africa Cup qualifying tournament.
The tournament hosts claim one player of the Golden Eaglets is featuring at the tournament with an expired passport.
It is unclear at this point whether the claim of Niger is valid.
Nigeria is billed to play Ghana in the finals of the competition on Sunday after securing a 2-1 win over Niger before their home fans in Niamey.
But Niger are hoping to have their protest succeed in order to disqualify Nigeria and have them as Ghana’s opponents instead on Sunday.
The organizing committee of WAFU is expected to investigate the protest and adjudicate on the matter swiftly before the grand finale.
Only the winner of the tournament will qualify for next year’s Africa Junior Championships in Tanzania.
