Ghana U17 defender Abdul Samed is urging his teammates to remain focused ahead of their semi final clash against Cote d’Ivoire.
The Black Starlets recovered from a wobbly start to secure their place in the last four of the WAFU Zone B tournament with a 2-0 win over Togo on Saturday.
Coach Karim Zito’s charges finished as leaders of Group A which sees them face yet another close neighbor in the match to be played on Wednesday.
Despite confidence being on the high following the win over Togo, left-back Abdul Samed wants his colleagues to remain alert to the threat of their next opponents.
“The mood in camp is very good. Much better than after the game against Niger,” he told FootballmadeinGhana.com.
“We are all very happy and proud of ourselves but we know the job is not done yet.
“We want to continue to progress in this competition and to do this we must remain focused for our next game.”
The WAFU Zone B tournament is a new format adopted by CAF to draw teams that will qualify for the 2019 U17 Africa Cup.
Only the winners of the various regional tournaments will qualify for the Africa Cup finals to be hosted next year by Tanzania.
