Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila will be featuring in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career following the qualification of Red Star Belgrade into the group stage.
The Serbian giants progressed to the group phase after playing out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday night.
Red Star qualifies on the away goals rule having held the Austrian giants to a goalless draw in the first leg.
Sumaila who joined in June on loan from Al Qadsia has been unable to play in the Champions League over his delayed registration for the competition.
With the Serbian giants now qualifying for the group stage, the 25-year-old who had been key in their domestic league will now have the chance to play in the prestigious European club competition.
Registrations are reopened to clubs at this stage which means the Ghana international will now have the chance to play in the Champions League.
If successful, Sumaila will have the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career having played out his career until now predominantly in the gulf.
