Ghana U17 assistant coach Yaw Preko has blasted CAF for the new qualification format for the Africa Cup.
The new format sees teams qualify to the Africa Cup finals through their respective regional blocks.
This format has seen Ghana needing to win the WAFU Zone B tournament in Niger in order to make next year’s finals Tanzania.
Other teams must qualify in similar fashion – making qualification to the finals a lot harder.
Ghana assistant coach Yaw Preko feels the new format does not make sense.
“It’s nonsense, I don’t know how they (CAF) came by this format for the U-17 qualification, I don’t know,” he said.
Ghana have been drawn in Group A of the qualifying tournament which kicks off this weekend against hosts Niger and Togo while Group B is made up of Nigeria, Benin, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
Two teams will progress to the semi finals of the tournament with only the winner of the competition making it to the Africa Cup finals.
