The team of Mubarak Wakaso and Patrick Twumasi – Deportivo Alaves – were handed a misfortune of playing against FC Barcelona on the opening week of the 2018/19 La Liga season at the Nou Camp. The Ghanaian players and Alaves were soundly smashed 3-0.

Alaves – who finished 14th last season – were pitted against the champions on Day 1 of the new season as Lionel Messi and Coutinho scored to start the Blaugrana title defence on a big note.

Wakaso lasted the whole game but new signing Twumasi remained on the bench.
