Former Black Starlets captain Eric Ayiah completed his transfer to AS Monaco last Friday after passing a medical test.
Charity Stars FC confirmed their 18-year old prodigy has penned a 5-year deal with the French giants.
Ayiah came to prominence after scoring combined 9 goals during the qualification and finals of the 2017 Africa U-17 Championship. He also scored three more times at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India to take Ghana to the Quarter finals and contested for the best African youth player of the year which was in the end won by Zambia’s Patson Daka.
Monaco have a reputation of producing world-class talents from their reserves having nurtured France World Cup sensation Kylian Mbappé as a latest testament.
The PSG forward was trained and handed first team opportunity by manager Leonardo Jardim in the second half of 2016/17 season where he scored six Champions league goals including one against Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon and and was voted best young player of this year’s World Cup.
After selling their best youngster to the Parisiens the Principality club has recruited a number of teenagers to start another project with Ayiah as the latest one to join Jardim’s reserve side.
Despite no official statement from the club announcing the signing of the Charity Stars player, Monaco fans have started to ponder whether they have the next Mbappé.
