Ghana Black Satellites deputy skipper Maxwell Arthur says they had their minds fixed on victory against Benin despite going down by an early goal.
The Ghana national Under 20 team overturned a 1-0 first half defeat to beat the Young Squirrels of Benin by three goals to one at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Arthur who was excellent at the right side of defence with his surging runs revealed that the early goal had an effect on them but the halftime talks by the technical team urged them on.
“It was a good game, the early goal unsettled us, but we were very determined to bounce back and the talks by our coaches during recess further ignited us to fight on for victory,” Arthur told footballmadeinghana.com
“They are not a bad side, it will not be easy in their home, at least a draw there can see us through but we are going there to fight for a win and I believe we can do it,”
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the 2019 Africa Under 20 Championship slated for Niger.
