Ghana’s hearing-impaired national team, the Black Wonders have left the country for the West Africa Deaf Football Tournament in Togo.
The tournament which is the 8th edition will start on 3rd of August and ends on the August 17 in the Togolese capital of Lome.
The Black Wonders have participated in three out of the eight editions with their highest feat being a gold medal which they won in the last event.
According to the vice president of the Ghana Deaf Football Association, Daniel Atwima, they have prepared well and are bent on retaining the trophy.
“We’ve competed for all the seven and won three and also a bronze, But this time we are going as defending champions and believe we to try and defend the trophy by playing to the best of our abilities in Lome” Atwima told the media.
The team which departed for Lome is made up of 18 players, three technical team members and three officials.
