Spokesperson for the Liaison team, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has insisted that Government can’t be forced to pay players over the indefinite suspension of local football.
According to reports in the media, various captains of the 16 Ghana Premier League had written to the Government to pay them but Dan Kwaku Yeboah believes Government can’t be forced to pay them but rather can be pleaded to compensate them.
“I think we can speak with Government to compensate the players but we can’t force him to pay the players, because Government is not the cause of the current situation in our football, it is this same Football people, so we can negotiate with the Government that the clubs are financially handicapped so he should help with something small, but we can’t force Government to pay clubs by force,” he said in an interview with Spice 91.9 FM
Dan Kwaku Yeboah then added that clubs have paid their players in worst situations than this in times past.
“Every serious country had finished playing its league prior to the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, so let’s ask ourselves if the clubs were not paying their players when the League was suspended for seven months? he quizzed.
