Karela United FC defender Godfred Saka has revealed that he and the rest of his colleagues are suffering due to the suspension of the Ghana Premier league.
Saka explained that some players are struggling to get food to eat whilst others depend on borrowing from people to survive.
“We the players are finding it difficult to get money to cater for ourselves since the break of the league, for three months we have not been paid because of the suspension of the league. When I’m home, I get food to eat but I can’t tell how some of the players survive. Even some players now a days call me to send them mobile money, some even asked me for food.” Saka told Light FM
The experienced lateral defender also explained the reasons why the skippers of the various Premier League Clubs wrote to the FIFA liaison team seeking their help.
“We wrote to them because of the situation we are in. It will be difficult for the clubs to pay us because of the suspension of the league. Some clubs have not paid their players for two to three months now. So we are hoping for the Liaison team to pay us what the clubs are owing us”
