Former Bolton Wanderers star midfielder Mustapha Riga is planning to open a soccer academy in Ghana as a post-career engagement.
The former Vitesse Arnhem academy product who also played for Spanish side Levante wants to set up the academy to offer opportunities to Ghanaian young soccer players.
“I am planning to set up the academy to help young talented players in the country like how I went through the academy in Vitesse. Myself I got that opportunity and this is one reason I want to also give back to my country.” Mustapha Riga disclosed the news to FootballMadeInGhana.
“There are lots of talents here and is what God has given us. Look at a country like Brazil they survive mostly on football.” Riga emphasized.
The Ghanaian-born Riga left his role as Brong Ahafo United couple of months ago citing bribery and corruption in the Ghanaian game as the reasons that influenced his decision.
