Ghana defender Samuel Sarfo was the star man for Saipa as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Sepidrood Rasht in the Iranian Pro League opener.
The former Liberty Professionals captain was a pillar at the back and also recorded an assist in the fixture that gave them only one point over two legs the previous season.
The powerful centre back has been a revelation since his arrival.
Sarfo helped Saipa to a fourth place finish last season and is already eyeing glory with the side.
“We are leaving no stone unturned because this team drew with us at home and won the second leg so it’s a revenge for me, although I didn’t feature in those games,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com.
“We actually gained Asia quota so we needed to have a good start and prepare adequately for the rest of the games.”
Sarfo joined Saipa last season and has since been a key player for the club.
