The Government of Ghana has refused to fund the traveling expenses of foreign based players expected to join the Ghana U20 team ahead of their African Cup qualifier against Benin.
The availability of Nordsjaelland trio Kudus Mohammed, Ibrahim Sadiq and Gideon Mensah is up in the air due to the refusal of the state to fund the cost of their transportation to Ghana.
Coach Jimmy Cobblah has been preparing his side with the hope of having the influential trio joining in early next week but he admits their arrival is proving difficult.
“Currently there are three players that is Kudus, Gideon and Ibrahim who are yet to join the team,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com.
“I hope they will be able to join the team because they are key players but I don’t know for sure if they’ll be here with us.”
The administration of football in Ghana has been murky ever since the Ghana FA was placed under an injunction by an Accra High Court.
This was after Government commenced legal proceedings to have the GFA dissolved following the expose of Anas Aremeyaw Anas of alleged acts of corruption by high ranking officials of the federation including its former President Kwesi Nyantakyi and a significant number of referees.
FIFA have since appointed a two-member Liaison team to oversee the activities of all national teams with the backing of government.
