Ghana’s Under 20 Women’s team head coach, Yusif Basigi claims the main target of his team is to make it out of the group phase of the 2018 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup.
The Black Princesses have failed to qualify from the group stage despite consecutively appearing in the last four editions of the FIFA World Cup.
Coach Yusif Basigi stated that, the target is to qualify from the group stage before thinking about other games, since Ghana has never progressed from the group stages in the history of the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
“Our target now is to go pass the group stage for the first time in our history, before strategizing about the subsequent matches, because the Princesses have never crossed the group stages before,”he told the press.
“We are looking at qualifying from the group stages and after that, we strategize against our next opponent”. Black Princesses are potted in Group A with host nation France, New Zealand and Netherlands. Ghana will play their opening game against the host France on August 5, 2018 at the Stade de la Rabine.
