Swansea City have confirmed shipping Ghana forward Andre Ayew out on loan to Fenerbahce.
The 28-year-old has struggled to regain the form that made him a cult hero with the Swans since his return from West Ham.
Ayew has now left Swansea’s pre-seaon camp in Austria to travel to Turkey to conclude his move to the Super Lig giants.
Fenerbahce also have an option to purchase Ayew permanently after the initial season-long loan spell.
Ayew rejoined Swansea in January this year following a disappointing time with West Ham where he joined for the then club record fee of £20.5.
His return however didn’t save the Swans from getting relegated from the Premier League.
Swansea manager Graham Potter who okayed the move says it is part of the club’s ongoing restructuring exercise while paying tribute to the departing Ghana international.
“I understand the circumstances of the move – it’s part of the restructure of us going forward,” he said.
“From my perspective he has been brilliant. He has applied himself in training, supported what we are trying to do and been very professional.
“He has been a joy to work with and we wish him the best.”
Andre will once again be separated from his junior brother and Swansea forward Jordan whom he has played together with during their time at Marseille.
