Former Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien has expressed his dissatisfaction about the state of Ghana Football labeling it as shameful and sad.
After the premiere of Number 12, an investigative piece by investigative journalist, Anas Aremayaw Anas which saw some officials taking bribes in a video, all football related activities in the country has being halted by the Government. The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has resigned from his post. FIFA in conjunction with Government formed a liaison team after his resignation to pave way for the reformation of football in the country.
Michael Essien said the current state of football in Ghana is shameful and we just have to look forward to resolve all issues for domestic football competitions to starts because that is the only avenue local players earn their living from.
“It’s a very sad and a shameful situation, what is happening is happening, now we just have to look forward and resolve the Football Association and hopefully they can get back to work and give this local boys chance to play because that is what they do for living and now they are not doing nothing which is quite hard for them, I hope they can resolve the issue for them to get back to work as soon as possible” Michael Essien told the press during the launch of the Rexona talent hunt..
