Chairman of Ghana League Clubs Association, Kudjoe Fianoo has explained the reasons why he declined the government appointment to be among the five-member committee to meet FIFA to discuss the possible solutions to the current football situation in Ghana.
Fianoo indicated that he knew FIFA will not accept to meet them unless there is a member of the Ghana football Association.
“Something wasn’t right with the steps government was taking to restore our game. As chairman of the GHALCA I knew very well FIFA wouldn’t entertain the 5-man committee. I couldn’t be part of an exercise I knew would be futile” He told Sikka Fm in Kumasi.
”Again, it would have been an act of betrayal to accept the appointment. Had government spoken to GHALCA to get them a rep onto the committee and GHALCA decided to choose me it would have been a bit different”
The veteran football administrator also confirmed that FIFA is insisting a member of the Ghana football Association should be included before they meet the government officials.
”But even with that, FIFA is now insisting on the presence of the General Secretary of the FA. The FA scribe will then name one other Ghana football Association member to meet FIFA’s requirement for any meeting to take place”.
