Ghana’s ambassador to Algeria, Nana Kwasi Arhin has called on the Black Satellites players to be prepared to “die” for the country when they face the Junior Fenecs in a 2019 AYC qualifier today (Friday)in Algiers.
The government of Ghana representative who has been in the North African country for six months stressed that he believes his country has what it takes to dispatch the Algerians and they should go all out and get the needed results.
“I believe we should always know we have a proud country. Our target is success and we must strive for it. I have told my colleagues we are going to win, I do not want any embarrassment. You are here to represent Ghana and you must be ready to die for the country.” Arhin addressed the players after their arrival
“The Algerians themselves are saying in their newspapers that this is the most difficult game they are going to play and they will go out and give their best. We must not relax as we must do extra work in order to carry the day. We have the needed materials and technical brains to achieve that”
The ambassador further assured the players to play collectively as Ghanaians and not as individuals and they should demonstrate patriotism to the national colors.
“You are going to play not for your individual selves but for mother Ghana. You must show the zeal on the field. Others have done it and you can also do it. You must show loyalty to the national colors”
Ghana was on standby in the previous round whilst Algeria also defeated North African rivals Tunisia 5-2 on aggregate.
Algeria’s last appearance in the AYC tournament was in 2013 when they hosted it whilst Ghana’s own was in 2015 in Senegal.
