Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper Dennis Onyango believes Ghana international Richard Ofori can win the PSL goalkeeper of the season.
The Ugandan number one insists, Richard Ofori who features for Maritzburg is having a remarkable season and qualifies to be named the goalkeeper of the season though he does not know the criteria they will use.
“There’s me, there’s [Richard] Ofori who has done well for Maritzburg and there’s also Sage Stephens who has done well for Cape Town City. I think he has 11 or 12 clean sheets.” Onyango was quoted by Kickoff
“I don’t know the procedure they follow, but if it’s about clean sheets, then Khune wins it hands down. He has done fantastic for the team, but if you look at how you’ve helped the team achieve, I think they would look at different individuals.”
“A lot of things have to be looked at, not at only clean sheets. You need to look at how you helped the team achieve and that will be done by the committee. But at the moment I think Itu has done well and not to disregard the other guys. For me, whichever way it goes it will be fine with me.”
The award for the most safest pair of hands in the PSL is a straight fight between Itumeleng Isaac Khune of Kaizer Chiefs, Dennis Onyango of Mamelodi Sundowns and Richard Ofori of Maritzburg United.
