The Director of Operations at Aduana Stars, George Gyewu has stated the club’s disagreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on the decision to play three of their four outstanding league matches within one week.
According to him, the CAF Confederation Cup is a platform they need to build their future in Africa on. As a result, “They are not playing any match on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but they are moving to Dormaa to await Liberty Professionals on Wednesday after their arrival in Ghana”.
Aduana Stars returned from Madagascar where they lost 2-1 to Fosa Junior yet qualified on a 7-2 aggregate to make it to the group stage of the Confederation Cup. George Gyewu, who was speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Night show on Thursday, rejected the GFA’s decision.
“It is not our fault. We represent Ghana. We don’t want any problem with the FA and we are playing only two matches within the week” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Wa All Stars, Oduro Nyarko has advised Aduana Stars to comply with the GFA’s directive saying that, the instruction has correct legal basis. “The rules say, “Outstanding matches should be played in 48 hours. We share in their glory but the outstanding matches for Aduana Stars is becoming too many and needs to be cleared”.
