Dreams FC will be hoping to turn things around on Wednesday when they play Asante Kotoko in their second group game of the Ghalca organised G-8 competition at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Dreams FC lost their opening game 1-0 score to Aduana Stars while Kotoko also defeated Eleven Wonders by the same margin. Dreams need at least a point in Wednesday’s game to stay in the competition. A win for Kotoko will effectively see them in the semifinals.

Matches between the two clubs have been far and few as they have met just twice with Kotoko recording a 1-0 scoreline on both occasions though they were outplayed by the minnows.

The only major connections between the two clubs currently is Dreams FC coach, Abdul Karim Zito – a former Kotoko player. A couple of years back, Kotoko also aided the development of former Dreams FC skipper, Abdul Rahman Baba who’s now at Chelsea.

On paper, it looks like a herculean task for the Premiership returnees but they will take solace in the fact that, they didn’t fare badly against Aduana Stars and if Coach Zito gets his cards right, they could possibly give Kotoko a surprise.

Kotoko might maintain the squad that pipped Eleven Wonders. Dreams FC on the other hand are expected to make changes as there was a missing link between their midfield and attack in the Aduana Stars game.

The midfield trio of Godfred Asante, Leonard Owusu and Benjamin Ayim might be thrown into the fray to provide the arsenals for Zuberu Sharani and Eric Gawu wreak havoc on Kotoko. In Zuberu Sharani, Kotoko have a real threat to deal with as he made the Aduana Stars’ defence work anytime he had possession.

Dreams FC’s defence, marshalled by George Dwobeng, Montari Kamahini and others must as well work harder to neutralise any venom in Yakubu Mohammed and Obed Owusu. It will also be interesting to see how young winger, James Wiafe who was brilliant against Aduana Stars will cope with the experienced Amos Frimpong.

Wednesday’s game promises to be exciting particularly in midfield where Dreams’ skipper, Leonard Owusu and Kotoko’s veteran, Jordan Opoku play the same style. Dreams FC must concentrate on the game from start to end if they are to get the needed results since in the only two matches they have played, Kotoko either scored in the 1st or 90th minute.
