There was never a dull moment in Sunday’s G-8 second Group B match between Medeama and Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Sports Stadium, as the two teams put up a fascinating game laced with goals.
In front of a sparsely seated crowd, Medeama shot into the lead after nine minutes through former Great Olympics and Kotoko striker, Kwame Boateng.
Dwarfs’ Isaac Donkor, who would be shown the red card by Referee Issaka Afful in the closing stages of the game, for a second bookable offence, canceled the deficit to make it 1-1.
Albert Hammond gave Dwarfs a 2-1 lead after 26 minutes. At the half-hour mark, Stephen Bentil made it 3-1 for Dwarfs. The Cape Coasters would however surrender their two-goal advantage.
Medeama pulled one back in the 39th minute through Kwame Boateng again, marking the first of three braces in the game and all by Medeama players.
Four minutes on, Agyenim Boateng grabbed another goal for Medeama.
And just on the stroke of half time, Dwarfs’ lead vapourised into thin air with Joseph Tetth Zutah fetching the equaliser for Medeama to make it 3-3.
If Dwarfs fans hoped for a revival of their team in the second half, that was fantasy, because, Medeama didn’t lift their foot off the accelerator.
Agyenim Boateng secure a brace seven minutes after the interval making it 5-3 before Joseph Tetteh Zutah recorded his brace in the 65th minute to leave the scores at 6-3.
Joseph Dabtora fetched Dwarfs’ fourth goal in the 72nd minute and Joseph Esso made it 5-6 to close the game.
Medeama will play Hearts on Wednesday while Dwarfs with Dwarfs taking on Karela United the next day.
