Dreams FC have missed out on a major signing ahead of the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season with Benin star, Charbel Gomez joining Italian club, Udinese.
The youngster who emerged as one of the stars in the 2017 WAFU tournament in Ghana was being tracked by Dreams FC.
Discussions between Dreams FC officials and that of Gomes’ club in Benin, Esae FC, were said to have taken place even before the WAFU tournament ended.
But the ambitious Ghanaian club were unable to meet the exorbitant demands for the talented forward.
FootballMadeInGhana.com can exclusively report that, Gomez has signed a contract to join Italian club Udinese.
Financial details of the move were however concealed.
This will be considered a major setback for the new Premier League season with clubs tilting towards signing international stars to boost the image of the domestic game.
Inter Allies had already captured two of the WAFU stars in Nigerian Afeez Aremu and Victorien Adebayor from Niger ahead of the start of the new campaign.
Giants Hearts of Oak were also reported to be chasing Gomes.
