In God We Trust FC ended the first round of the Greater Accra Division Two – Zone IV league on a winning note after recording the 1 – 0 victory over FC Barbarossa.
The fixture at the Kweiman Park was keenly contested as both sides sought to gain a better position on the league log ahead of the second round. Skipper Yaw Kwarteng grabbed the only goal of the match from the spot kick in the 85th minute to secure the win for Winfred Dormon’s squad.
In an interview with footballmadeinghana.com after the game, Manager Winfred Dormon revealed his side’s lack of precision upfront nearly cost them the victory.
“We created a lot of chances in the first half but we were unable to convert them. It is rather unfortunate that we have to score through a penalty kick but all said and done we got the desired results.
He however praised the lads for show strength and focus till the final whistle of the game.
“I enjoyed how they fought till the end. Well there were negatives but also a lot of positives as well.
“Yaw the captain for todays game, I think he is coming very good. Nobert also played very well and Rockson Ankomah who returning from injury also played well, these three players really came in to the game and they really influence the game game into a larger percentage.
The Kweiman based club won four games, drew five time and lost twice in all 11 games played in the first round. The league is scheduled to resume on September 29, 2017.
