A second half stunner from Egyenim Boateng was all Nzema Kotoko needed to record a famous win over Sekondi Hasaacas at the Essipon stadium on match day 25 of the GN Division One League.
Both teams are far from earning silverware in Zone 2 of the championship with Karela FC already earning the single slot available, but the fixture was keenly contested.
Hasaacas were troubled in thier own half from the blast of the whistle but their guests were blunt upfront, seeing out a barren 45 minutes in the first half.
An improved second half from Nzema Kotoko meant more trouble for the “Do” boys who could barely get a shot on target.
After countless trials, the opener came through for the guests in the 60 minute and that proved to be the decider of the game.
The visitors could have secured a more comfortable scoreline 10 minutes but Rashid Salim’s efforts were bravely denied in succession by Hasaacas goalie.
Very little changed for Coach Joe Agyeman but did have opportunities to change the tide five minutes from regulation time. There was one problem, the attack lacked the needed finesse to get the ball in the net.
The win for Mallam Yahaha’s squad leave them 7th on the league log with 37 points, three points less than Sekondi Hasaacas who lie 6th on the league table.
Hasaacas face Kumasi based King Faisal on match day 26 while Nzema Kotoko welcome Gold Stars at home.
