Ghana defender Harrison Afful is likely to miss Columbus Crew’s midweek MLS game with Philadelphia Union which is slated for Wednesday Talen Energy Stadium at Pennsylvania.
Afful was stretched off in the 46th minute on Saturday as Crew defeated the same opponent’s by a lone goal to nothing in the last game of the first round of the MLS.
The Ghanaian was at training on Monday but was restricted to only stationary bike work as the medical team continued to assess him.
Crew manager Gregg Berhalter emphasized that a decision will be taken before the close of Tuesday whether Afful can feature or not.
“Our medical team are still examining Afful and by the close of the day we will see if he can play or not. We do not want to risk him if he cannot play,” Berhalter stated.
The Ghanaian placed will be taken by Hector Jimenez if he fails to recover.
