AshantiGold goalkeeper George Owu has dismissed allegations he was feigning injury just to delay the game in the win over Hearts of Oak – explaining he had a tummy upset.

The 34-year-old called for medical attention several time as the Miners piped the Phobians to pick maximum points before their home fans in Accra on Wednesday.

Owu was accused of deliberately requesting medical attention just to run down the clock.

But the experienced goalkeeper insists he had a genuine problem.

“My stomach was paining me before the game, serious,” he said after the game.

“I am telling you the truth!

“It was not my intention to delay the game but I had a genuine problem.”

The win takes AshGold four points clear off the drop zone as they continued with their second round revival.
