Dreams FC teenager Benjamin Ayim says he scored the equalizing penalty for his senior colleague Emmanuel Lomotey as the Black Stars B enforcer run to him and told him to net the penalty for him personally and the fans.
The talented youngster who has won two man of the match awards already in the Ghanaian second-tier league this season sent the Heart of Lions Goalkeeper the wrong way to give Dreams FC the equalizer in the tension-packed match.
The Zone Three leaders went behind early in the first half through a deflected effort but came back strongly in the second half and equalized through a Benjamin Ayim penalty after Samuel Alabi was brought down in the box with three minutes to go.
“I was not prepared to take the penalty when it came though I was the number one spot kick taker during my time at the youth team. Everyone was running away so I decided to go and take it, Emmanuel Lomotey came to me and told me to look at the fans and also score for him personally,” Ayim told Footballmadeinghana.com
“I prayed and I sent the goalkeeper the wrong way for the equalizer. I was happy I scored for the team, the game was very tough and we were determined to win but we drew and got a point which has seen us maintaining our top spot,”
“We will now focus on our next game as this game is over and we will go all out and take the three maximum points,”
Dreams FC are currently leading the league table with 41 points after 17 games.
