Phar Rangers FC have announced Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan as their ‘Honorary President’ contrary to reports he will be named as a major shareholder of the Division One club.
Gyan has been heavily connected to the second tier club with rumours he was ready to make a huge investment injection.
But the club insist his role as ‘Honorary President’ is merely for ambassadorial and diplomatic purposes but hinted it could be more in future.
“Asamoah Gyan is the Honorary President of Phar Rangers,” club President Nana Yaw Amponsah told FootballMadeInGhana.com.
“His role will be ambassadorial as we look to extend our brand.
“This will be his role for now.”
Phar Rangers are hoping to use the immense brand of the Black Stars captain to enhance their image as an emerging force in Ghana football.
There are however beliefs that this announcement has more to it with reports he is willing to make invest part of his wealth into the football club.
