Still Believe FC began their campaign in the Greater Accra Division Two League with a hard fought 1-0 win over Koans FC on Saturday.

A 9th minute strike from new signing James Agbemaple was just enough to see the Kweiman-based club clinch all three points.

The youth team of Dreams FC was however made to dig deep to hold out for the win after fading out in the latter parts of the game despite the bright start.

James Agbemaple gave the hosts a deserving lead after just nine minutes following some good play from the right flank which saw Victor Oduro provide the vital assist for the opener.

The offensive midfielder was celebrating twelve minutes later only for his tap in to be ruled out for offside.

This decision provided some impetus for the visiting team as they mounted a serious siege on the defence of Still Believe in search of the elusive equalizer.

This led to some blunders at the heart of the Still Believe defence leading to an early caution of Nasiru Ebla.

The young lads however managed to hold their visitors at bay to end the first half with their tails on top.

But Koans picked up the pace from where they left off in the second half but most of their efforts were foiled by captain Ali Musah who was superb for Still Believe on the day.

Coach Alfred Djanie, sensing danger brought on James Asamoah for Saeed Mohammed in his bid to win back the midfield.

This change proved highly productive as it restored the unique pattern of play of Still Believe – bringing the best out of the likes of Aziz Owen, Philemon Baffour and Austin Boakye.

Koans in one of their good surge upfront managed to hit the back of the net but the referee had already whistled for an offside during the buildup.

The game turned more physical towards the end with Victor Oduro also getting booked.

Philemon Baffour then went bursting forward in a solo move, beating three defenders on his way.

But he ended up exhausted where it matters most to scoff his shot wide.

Koans pressed for the equalizer even through the over six minutes added on time but to no avail to ultimately leave Kweiman empty handed.

Still Believe FC will make the short trip to face Zein FC at the Madina Telecom Park in their next game.
