Another bonus row is brewing in the Ghana camp ahead of their opening 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia, FootballMadeInGhana.com can exclusively reveal.

The leadership of the Black Stars have been engaging officials from the Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry over a $27,000 owed each player from their involvement at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Serious efforts have since been made to diffuse the simmering tension between some senior players of the Black Stars and high ranking officials of both the GFA and the Sports Ministry.

Some of the players even appear to have given up on the chase for the outstanding bonuses due them in their bid to prevent the bonus row that wrecked Ghana’s campaign at the 2014 World Cup.

Many of the core players of the Black Stars are also unhappy with the several changes made to the technical team of the Black Stars especially in the medical department.

The players had no input in the changes that were made to the technical team following the return of coach Kwesi Appiah.

“We all know the medical department of our national teams are not as strong as the ones we have at our clubs in Europe,” a leading Black Stars player told FootballMadeInGhana.com.

“It took time for the previous doctor to know the players and their peculiar injury situation. It also has to do with a matter of trust.

“These are virtually new people there and I don’t know if many of the players as at now are comfortable sharing very confidential information of their health with them.

“We the players are expected to work with people we have virtually no knowledge of and that is a big problem.”

Reports suggest the Black Stars have been promised a $5000 bonus for each player if they are able to deliver a win against Ethiopia on Sunday.

However previous promises to clear the outstanding $27,000 arrears are yet to be fulfilled heightening the distrust between the players and officials.
