Schalke will wait another four weeks to decide whether or not to extend Baba Rahman’s loan stay at the club.
The left-back is recovering from a knee injury he sustained while playing for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Rahman was on course to regaining the form that made him one of the most sought-after full-backs in Europe when he joined Schalke last summer on a season-long loan move from English giants Chelsea.
And though talks have been ongoing to have Baba extend his loan stay with the Royal Blues for another season, club executive Christian Heidel says they will delay a decision to monitor the recovery process of the Ghanaian.
“Our team doctor met Abdul in London. His knee injury is more complex and [his recovery] might be prolonged,” Schalke sporting executive Christian Heidel told Bild.
“We will wait another four weeks and then decide with Baba and his agent whether [another loan] makes sense.”
