Mohammed Polo has blamed the technical team for Ghana’s failure to win the Africa U17 Championships.

The Black Starlets who started the competition in free-scoring form were completely rendered sterile in the finals against Mali last Sunday in Libreville.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side failed to recover from a first half deficit to ultimately miss out on winning Ghana’s third African title at that level.

Ghana had failed to score in their last three matches of the tournament having finished top of Group A without a defeat and scoring as many as nine goals in the first two games.

Mohammed Polo who made his name through the youth ranks feels the coaches were responsible for Ghana’s declining form at the tournament.

“We have been unable to score even a goal in the last two games of the tournament,” he said.

“This shows clearly that technically we had something very wrong.

“We need to get our acts right technically before the World Cup.”

Ghana is one of four representatives of Africa including Mali, Niger and Guinea to feature in the U17 World Cup later this year in India.
