MLS side Portland Timbers have officially ended their chase to acquire Ghana international John Boye from Turkish side Sivasspor.
The name of the experienced centre-back popped up on the radar of the Timbers earlier this month as they seek a central defender to help their course in the league.
However, the club have now turned their attention to a different option following Sivasspor’s qualification back to the elite division.
“I’m told that Portland’s deal to bring in new CB will not get done today. It’s not John Boye either. Scheduled to arrive in July,” ESPN reporter Jeff Carlisle stated.
Boye was last season told that he could find new employers since he was eager to leave after the club’s relegation, but he did not get any mega offer and chose to stay with the club.
